The Mathematics Learning Centre was established in 1984 as an academic support centre of CQUniversity and part of Division of Library and Academic Learning Services. A key role is to assist students who experience difficulty with the mathematics component of their study program. Assistance provided by Centre staff includes diagnostic testing, counselling on mathematics learning and preparation, and individual and small group learning support sessions in a range of courses. Assistance is provided by staff at the University campuses in Bundaberg, Emerald, Gladstone and Mackay.
All students studying programs with a component of mathematics and/or statistics are urged to avail themselves of the facilities offered by the Centre, Academic staff in the Centre offer assistance over a wide range of first and second year mathematics and statistics courses.
The Centre is committed to the use of hand held technology, computer software and other technology to assist and improve learning in mathematics.
The Mathematics Learning Centre offers continuing education courses in preparatory mathematics at several levels.
The Centre is also actively engaged in research into ways of enhancing the learning of mathematics at tertiary level.
The Centre is currently engaged in projects related to promoting positive learning in mathematics.
